Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has nominated Pastor (Hon) Peter Pereotubo Akpe, the current Chief of Staff at the Government House, as the state’s new Deputy Governor.
The Bayelsa State House of Assembly confirmed Akpe’s nomination on Tuesday, bringing an end to months of speculation over who would fill the position left vacant by the late Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away on December 11, 2025.
Akpe’s appointment is expected to strengthen the state’s executive team as it continues ongoing governance initiatives across Bayelsa.
