The Kogi State Government has announced that a woman rescued from kidnappers has given birth to a set of twin girls at the state’s Internally Displaced Persons camp.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed this on Monday, noting that the identity of the mother was withheld to protect her safety.
Fanwo explained that Governor Usman Ododo had ordered that the mother and her newborn babies be provided with immediate and comprehensive medical care.
He said the governor directed the State Security Adviser and the Commissioner for Health to facilitate the transfer of the mother and the twins to the State Specialist Hospital for proper postnatal treatment and monitoring.
According to the commissioner, both the mother and the babies are in stable condition and responding well to medical attention.
The government stated that the IDP camp serves as a temporary rehabilitation facility where victims rescued from kidnapping receive medical support, counselling and other forms of assistance before being reunited with their families.
It added that ongoing security operations across the state have led to an increase in the number of rescued victims currently receiving care at the camp, while reaffirming its commitment to their welfare and reintegration into society.
