BREAKING: Ondo APC gets new Chairman

The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State on Tuesday began its state congress in Akure, where a fresh set of party leaders was selected.

The exercise, held at the Dome International Event Centre, produced 36 officials who emerged through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders.

Former federal lawmaker, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, widely known as Ameachi, was chosen as the new state chairman of the party.

Mr Alex Kalejaye, a media practitioner from Ilaje, was also picked as the state secretary.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other top figures in the party were present at the congress.

Party insiders said the adoption of consensus was aimed at strengthening unity and preventing internal wrangling.

Security personnel were stationed at the venue to ensure a peaceful process as delegates carried out the exercise.

Details of other members of the state executive council are expected to be made public at the end of the proceedings.
