The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan on Wednesday postponed further hearing in the suit concerning the Peoples Democratic Party’s elective convention held in Ibadan, urging the parties involved to explore an amicable resolution.
The appellate court advised the disputing parties to consider settling the matter outside the courtroom in order to reduce prolonged legal confrontation.
It added that should the parties fail to reach a peaceful agreement, the court would proceed to hear and determine the appeal on its merits.
The dispute centres on issues arising from the party’s elective convention conducted in Ibadan, which has triggered legal action among members of the party.
During the proceedings, the court emphasised the need for political actors to prioritise reconciliation and internal resolution of disputes rather than prolonged litigation.
The case was subsequently adjourned indefinitely to allow the parties sufficient time to pursue possible settlement talks.
