BREAKING: Defence Minister orders Service Chiefs to review operations in North-East, North-West

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has instructed Nigeria’s service chiefs to travel to the North-East and North-West regions to reassess and strengthen ongoing military operations in response to the deteriorating security situation.

The directive was issued on Wednesday during a meeting held at the Ministry of Defence, where the minister met with the country’s top military commanders to deliberate on persistent security threats in the two geopolitical zones.

Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, the minister’s media aide, Timothy Antigha, said the service chiefs were asked to conduct on-site evaluations in the troubled regions and provide a comprehensive report after their visits.

He noted that the move is intended to review existing strategies and improve the effectiveness of military operations against armed groups operating in the areas.

The directive comes amid a recent wave of attacks by terrorists and bandits, with several military installations reportedly targeted and a number of security personnel killed in the affected regions.
