Gunman injures two, shot dead in US University attack

Two persons were injured on Thursday morning when a gunman opened fire at Old Dominion University’s Constant Hall in Norfolk, Virginia, before security operatives shot him dead.

Officials confirmed that the assailant stormed the school premises around 11am and unleashed a volley of shots inside Constant Hall before he was neutralised by security personnel on ground.

The university management subsequently cancelled all classes and operations on its main campus for the rest of the day in the aftermath of the attack.

A student of the institution, Zachary Mulder, narrated how he had just concluded his morning lecture at Constant Hall and settled into the nearby Student Centre with a book and a cup of coffee when the shooting broke out.

“My heart dropped. I didn’t really know what was going on. I just knew I had to leave immediately,” Mulder told reporters.
