Abba Kabir Yusuf has warned members of the Kano State Executive Council against acts of disloyalty, internal rivalry, and leaking confidential government information.
The warning was delivered during the 38th executive council meeting, according to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
The development follows recent changes within the state government, including the removal of Abdullahi Musa as the Head of Service. Musa has been replaced in an acting capacity by Bilkisu Maimota, who was tasked with promoting discipline, unity, and professionalism within the civil service.
Commissioners Resign After Governor’s Defection
The governor’s spokesperson also confirmed that five commissioners resigned from the cabinet after Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress.
According to the statement, four of the commissioners stepped down after declining to join the governor in the move to the ruling party.

Governor Yusuf reportedly accepted their resignations and wished them success in their future endeavours.
Reason for Political Realignment
Speaking during his official reception into the APC, Yusuf explained that his decision to join the ruling party was aimed at strengthening Kano State’s position in national decision-making and improving development opportunities for the state.
He described the move as a strategic step taken in the interest of Kano residents, noting that aligning with the ruling party would enable better collaboration with the federal government and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor also urged the remaining cabinet members to remain united and focused on delivering development and progress for the people of Kano State.
