An Ibadan-based cleric, Kayode Amusan, widely known as Agbala Gabriel, has been embroiled in controversy following allegations of sexual misconduct and claims that donations raised for sick individuals were improperly handled.
Over the years, the pastor built a significant presence on social media, portraying himself as a compassionate religious leader whose ministry often mobilised support for the sick and other vulnerable members of society.
Videos showing him praying for distressed families and appealing for financial assistance for those in need frequently circulated online, earning him admiration from many Nigerians who believed his ministry was dedicated to charitable causes.
However, his public image has recently been questioned as multiple allegations surfaced on social media platforms including Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, sparking heated debates among users.
The controversy centres on claims related to a fundraising effort for a sick woman as well as accusations that the cleric fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.
One of the issues, Saturday PUNCH gathered, involves a woman identified as Morenikeji, who reportedly suffers from a spinal-related illness and whose treatment previously attracted public donations.
In a video that went viral online, Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola discussed the woman’s situation, revealing that she had earlier participated in raising funds for the patient’s surgery.
Daramola said she later stepped away from the effort after learning that the woman’s family sought assistance from the cleric.
“I was initially involved in raising money for her surgery, but the amount realised was not enough.
When the family eventually approached Agbala Gabriel for help, I decided to withdraw,” she said.
She further alleged that the cleric later abandoned the family and failed to provide the accommodation and surgical assistance he had reportedly promised.
In the same video, the patient’s daughter also claimed that she eventually removed her mother from the pastor’s care due to concerns about how the situation was being managed.
As the controversy continued to gain momentum online, another allegation emerged.
A blogger identified as Iyalaje Courtroom claimed during a live broadcast that the cleric was involved in the mismanagement of donations and had inappropriate relationships with some women.
According to the blogger, one of the women, identified as Bolu, was formerly a backup singer in the church who allegedly became pregnant for the cleric and later delivered twins.
“She was about 23 when the relationship started and she is now 25,” the blogger alleged during the broadcast.
She also claimed that the cleric initially denied responsibility for the pregnancy but later admitted it following pressure and subsequently rented accommodation for the woman and the twins.
A charity advocate, Princess Adeyinka, also supported the claim, stating that she personally intervened when the matter first came to light.

As the allegations continued to circulate widely on social media, reactions remained divided, with some supporters pointing to the cleric’s past charitable activities while critics called for greater transparency regarding the claims.
Responding to the controversy, the cleric denied the allegations, insisting that the claims were attempts to tarnish his reputation.
He said, “This is the way people try to bring ministers of God down. Many ministers who become well known face similar accusations.
You see respected men of God like Pastor Adeboye and others being criticised on social media regularly. These are simply false allegations spreading online.”
