The African Democratic Congress has unveiled the timetable for its nationwide congresses as preparations intensify for the party’s 2026 National Convention.
The schedule was disclosed in a public notice jointly signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the notice, the congress process will begin with polling unit and ward congresses fixed for April 7, 2026.
The party stated that the exercise would continue with Local Government Area congresses on April 9, followed by state congresses scheduled for April 11.
It added that the series of congresses would climax with the party’s National Convention billed for April 14, 2026.
Explaining the significance of the exercise, the party said the congresses were in line with its constitutional obligation to renew leadership structures at all levels of the organisation.
The statement read, “The African Democratic Congress announces the official timetable for the conduct of its 2026 nationwide congresses and National Convention.
“The exercise is part of the party’s constitutional mandate to refresh its leadership structures across all tiers, starting from the polling units and wards to the local government and state levels, and culminating in the National Convention.”
The party also urged members aspiring to occupy vacant positions at the ward, local government and state levels to obtain and submit the necessary nomination or expression of interest forms through its official website.
It added, “Members interested in contesting for available positions are advised to obtain, download, complete and submit the appropriate nomination or expression of interest forms through the party’s official platform.
“Further information and the required forms are available on the official ADC website, and members across the country are encouraged to participate actively in the process in line with the party’s constitution, guidelines and democratic principles.”
