Nigerian singer Crayon, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, has publicly criticised his former label, Mavin Records, over alleged unpaid royalties following his exit from the company.
The singer made the allegations in a series of posts shared on social media on Monday, claiming that the label and its founder, Don Jazzy, failed to properly compensate him for music released during his time with the imprint.
According to Crayon, his music generated significant revenue while he was signed to the label, but he allegedly received little or no financial returns. In the posts, which were later deleted, the singer also made a controversial claim linking the financial challenges he experienced to the death of his mother.
Crayon further alleged that payments owed to him had been delayed and vowed to reveal more details about his experience under the label.
As of the time of reporting, neither Don Jazzy nor Mavin Records has issued an official response to the allegations.
