An Akure resident, Mrs Sandra Osatuyi, has raised the alarm following the death of two of her daughters in Ibadan, Oyo State, while alleging that her remaining child has not been accounted for.
The distressed mother called on security agencies and the public to assist in locating the surviving girl, saying she had not been allowed to see her despite a directive from the police.
It was learnt that the three girls had been staying with their father, Mr Olofintayo Moses Akinpelumi Adekunle, an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, after his marriage to Osatuyi ended in 2000 in Akure, Ondo State.
Adekunle later moved to Ibadan with the children and subsequently remarried, with his new wife becoming their stepmother.
Last Wednesday, tragedy reportedly struck when two of the girls, Prosper Olofintayo, 14, and Elizabeth Olofintayo, 12, alongside their stepmother, died under controversial circumstances at their residence in the Eleta area of Ibadan, with residents suspecting poisoning.
While the two girls were buried in Ibadan, Osatuyi claimed that her eldest daughter, Precious-Praise Olofintayo, 18, who survived the incident, had not been seen since the burial.
She said the matter had been reported to the Oyo State Police Command and urged relevant authorities and organisations to intervene, adding that the police had earlier directed her former husband to release the teenager into her custody.
