The Russian statement emphasized respect for national sovereignty and non-interference, warning that any attempt to intervene would breach international law. A spokesperson said, “Respect for national sovereignty and non‑interference are pillars of global peace. Threats of takeover only deepen tensions and risk wider instability.”
Moscow reaffirmed its historical support for Cuba and called on the U.S. to avoid provocative rhetoric. Analysts note that the exchange reflects ongoing U.S.–Russia geopolitical rivalry and could impact Latin American diplomacy.
Cuba has not yet responded, but observers warn that even rhetorical threats could escalate tensions and strain diplomatic relations.
