Iranian drones have struck the Mina Al-Ahmadi Oil Refinery in Kuwait, triggering fires at several units of the facility amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Authorities in Kuwait confirmed that the refinery was targeted again on Friday after earlier attacks the previous day. Emergency responders were deployed to the site as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties following the incident.
The strike occurred as Kuwait marked Eid al-Fitr, the festival that celebrates the end of the Muslim holy month of fasting.
The attack is part of a broader escalation in the region following rising hostilities between Iran, Israel, and the United States. In recent days, energy infrastructure across the Gulf region has become a target amid the intensifying conflict.
Tensions heightened earlier this week after Israeli forces reportedly struck Iran’s major gas facility at the South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf. Analysts say the latest attack on Kuwait’s refinery reflects Iran’s strategy of targeting key energy sites across Gulf Arab states.
The wider conflict reportedly began in late February when the United States, alongside Israel, launched strikes against Iranian targets. Since then, Iran has responded by attacking American interests across the Middle East as well as Israeli targets.
Regional observers warn that the continued escalation could threaten global energy markets and further destabilise the Gulf region.
