Suspected gunmen have abducted the Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area in Kano State, Alhaji Hamza Musa Durba, during a late-night operation.
The attack was said to have taken place on Friday when about six armed men stormed his residence in Dinya town, situated in Durba Ward of the council area.
Security sources disclosed that the assailants arrived on motorcycles and carried out the operation quietly, without firing any gunshots.
An operative familiar with the development said the attackers acted swiftly and in an organised manner, gaining entry into the house and taking the victim away without raising alarm.
It was further gathered that members of the victim’s family present at the time were left unharmed, as the gunmen focused solely on abducting him.
The incident has unsettled residents of the community, who described the method used as unusual and expressed fears over the growing confidence of criminal elements in rural parts of the state.
Meanwhile, security agencies have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, with efforts ongoing to secure the safe release of the abducted official.
