Several Nigerian fuel stations, including those operated by MRS, raised their petrol prices on Saturday, less than 24 hours after Dangote Refinery increased its gantry price by N70 to N1,245 per litre on Friday.
Observations across Abuja and its environs showed that MRS filling stations adjusted their pump price from N1,267 to N1,367 per litre, marking an N100 increase.
Similarly, Ranoil, Empire Energy, and AA Rano raised their prices to N1,440, N1,430, and N1,370 per litre, respectively.
A manager at MRS, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the adjustment.
“Our stations now sell petrol at N1,367 per litre, up from N1,267, following Dangote Refinery’s latest gantry price revision to N1,275 per litre,” he said.
Currently, petrol prices at Nigerian filling stations range between N1,367 and N1,440 per litre, while outlets of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited continue to retail at N1,261 per litre.
The recent adjustments follow Dangote Refinery’s fourth petrol price increase, which analysts say will affect the majority of Nigerians.
The refinery supplies approximately 61 per cent of the country’s domestic petrol demand, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority for February.
The hike in domestic petrol prices reflects broader global trends, including crude oil surges above $110 per barrel, influenced by tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
