Honourable Festus Akingbaso, the lawmaker representing the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has issued a stern warning against baseless media speculation linking him or his aides to the ongoing process of selecting a new king for Idanre. In a recent press statement, Akingbaso’s media team addressed what they described as a misleading social media post that falsely suggested involvement in the Obaship stool.
The statement clarified, “The attention of the Media Team of Hon. Festus Akingbaso (Fessywest) has been drawn to some circulating publications and online discussions attempting to link our principal and his media aides to the ongoing issues concerning the traditional stool of Idanre Kingdom.”
Emphasizing the integrity of the traditional institution, the statement continued, “We wish to state emphatically and for the avoidance of doubt that Hon. Festus Akingbaso and his Media Team have no involvement, interest, or affiliation whatsoever with any matter relating to the traditional stool of Idanre. The Idanre traditional institution is a highly revered and respected heritage, which must not be trivialized or politicized under any circumstance.”
Akingbaso’s team urged the public, political figures, and social media users to refrain from associating the Honourable’s name with the kingship process or any traditional affairs. They emphasized, “Anyone who wishes to engage in political discourse should do so without attaching the name of Hon. Akingbaso or his aides to such sensitive matters.”
The release underscored the importance of respecting Idanre’s rich heritage, stating, “Idanre is an ancient and noble kingdom that commands great respect among its people and beyond. We strongly caution those spreading misinformation or engaging in unnecessary arguments and social media rants to desist henceforth. The peace, unity, and dignity of Idanre Kingdom must remain paramount.”
