Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has stated that Nigeria is well positioned to support global energy supply amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister said the global demand for crude oil remains strong and that Nigeria is ready to contribute to maintaining stability in the international energy market.
According to Idris, Nigeria is prepared to play a significant role in ensuring energy security around the world.
“Nigeria is ever ready to contribute to energy security around the world. Whatever Nigeria can do to ease tension, it will do. The world needs oil, and Nigeria is there,” he said.
The minister also spoke about the foreign engagements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the visits are aimed at strengthening diplomatic, cultural, and economic relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Idris explained that the engagements are part of efforts to deepen bilateral ties and promote mutual economic interests between both countries.
He further noted that the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration are already improving Nigeria’s global image and boosting confidence in the country’s economy.
“With the reforms that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instituted, we have seen a significant uplift in the economy,” he said.
The minister reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to sustaining reforms, strengthening national security, and ensuring a stable environment for citizens and investors.
Meanwhile, some African countries that previously relied heavily on refineries in the Persian Gulf are reportedly turning to the Dangote Refinery as an alternative source of refined petroleum products amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
