A man seeking employment, Blessing Oluwajuwonlo Oripenaye, on Monday took his plea to the entrance of the Ondo State Governor’s Office in Akure, insisting on seeing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa after his 14-day online appeal yielded no response.
Oripenaye disclosed that he had earlier sent messages and tagged senior government officials on social media platforms, requesting assistance with securing a job, but received no feedback.
“I have spent the past 14 days writing and reaching out on social media, tagging the Governor, the Deputy Governor and other top officials, asking for a job opportunity, but nobody responded,” he said.
He maintained that his presence at the Governor’s Office should not be mistaken for a protest, describing it instead as a personal effort to seek help.
“This is not a protest or an attempt to criticise the Governor. I am simply asking for an opportunity to work. I believe my request will be granted,” he stated.
According to him, the decision to remain at the premises was to ensure that his request gets the attention of the Governor or his aides.
“If the Governor has not heard about me, I will make sure he does. A single phone call from him can turn my life around,” he said.
Oripenaye added that he would continue to show up at the location every day while waiting for a response from the state authorities.
“I will be here daily until 5pm because I need a job. I want to contribute meaningfully to the growth of my state and the country,” he said.
He also noted that he deliberately stayed at a nearby car park to avoid disrupting activities around the Governor’s Office, stressing that his mission was peaceful and focused on securing a better future.
