A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Princewill Dike, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as the Director-General of his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dike, a Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner, made the call while speaking with journalists on Monday in Port Harcourt.
He expressed confidence that Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, possesses the political capacity and experience required to lead Tinubu’s re-election campaign successfully.
According to him, Wike had previously demonstrated strong political influence and strategic ability in defeating opponents during elections in Rivers State.
Dike stated that if Wike is appointed as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, it would strengthen Tinubu’s chances of securing victory in the 2027 election.
He also noted that Wike has a wide political network across the country and the ability to mobilise campaign resources without placing financial pressure on the President.
The APC chieftain further praised Wike’s political track record, citing his role in delivering electoral victories during past elections in Rivers State.
Dike added that Wike’s leadership qualities and grassroots connections make him well-suited to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign structure across Nigeria.
He concluded by urging President Tinubu to consider appointing Wike to the position, describing the minister as a “goal-getter” capable of strengthening the party’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.
