A 20-year-old man, Segun Ajie, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged involvement in a series of shopbreaking and theft incidents across parts of Lagos State.
The defendant is facing six counts bordering on unlawful entry and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Prosecuting counsel, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the alleged offences were committed on November 20, 2025, at different locations within Dalemo, Alakuko, under the Ikeja Magisterial District.
He alleged that Ajie forcefully gained entry into a shop owned by Mariam Adeyemi on Ayinla Adejobi Street at about 1:30 p.m., where he allegedly stole an Infinix Smart 5 phone valued at N150,000.
The prosecutor further informed the court that the defendant also broke into another shop on Olanukan Street belonging to Amosun Paulina and made away with an Itel Android phone worth N60,000.
In a separate count, Ajie was accused of breaking into a shop owned by Omowunmi Wasiu at No. 1, Alaba Taiwo Street, off Yusuf Road, Kola, Alagbado, where he allegedly stole an Apple iPhone 6 valued at N60,000, an Apple wristwatch worth N110,000, and cash of N25,000.
According to the prosecution, the alleged acts contravene Sections 280, 287 and 308(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate Omolara Kushanu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned until April 4 for further hearing.
The offences, if proven, attract a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment under the law.
