A coalition of leaders within the Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the immediate formation of a new State Executive Committee, citing growing disunity in the party.
The call was made on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital, where four major party blocs united to demand a leadership restructure, proposing Sola Ebiwonjumi to head the new executive.
The groups involved include the PDP faction, Labour and Obedient Movement, ADC Aborigines, and the Omoluabi Group.
They alleged that the current chairman’s leadership has weakened cohesion and threatened the party’s stability ahead of 2027 elections.
Ebiwonjumi, speaking at the press briefing, said the party’s challenges stem from the undue influence of a single leader, which has repeatedly hindered dialogue and equitable decision-making.
He added, “We have exhausted all efforts at reconciliation and internal resolution. Restructuring the leadership is now the only way to restore unity and progress within the party.”
The coalition specifically called for the removal of Barr. Wole Ademoyegun as state chairman, accusing him of failing to uphold fairness and inclusiveness in managing party affairs.
They outlined plans for a broad-based executive, involving all local government and ward chairmen, to ensure that leadership represents all interests and stakeholders across Ondo State.
The coalition concluded by emphasizing their commitment to rebuilding the party on principles of justice, transparency, and collective leadership, noting that the national body has been informed of their decision.
