The government of Kuwait has summoned the ambassador of Iran and issued a formal protest following continued missile strikes targeting its territory, including a recent attack on a civilian facility.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it summoned Mohammad Toutounji for the third time since what it described as Iranian aggression that began on February 28, 2026.
According to the statement, the ambassador was handed an official protest note over the ongoing attacks allegedly launched by Iran against Kuwait.
The diplomatic move followed what authorities described as a “brazen attack” targeting fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Kuwaiti officials said the strike constituted a serious violation of international humanitarian law because the airport is classified as a civilian facility.
During the meeting, Kuwait’s Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aziz Rahim Al-Deihani, strongly condemned the attack and described it as a clear violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He stated that the missile strikes breach international law and the United Nations Charter, warning that the escalation threatens regional and international peace and security.
Kuwait also called for an immediate halt to the attacks, stressing that Iran would bear full responsibility for the consequences of what it described as continued aggression.
