Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has terminated the appointment of the Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Shehu Sagagi, with immediate effect.
The development was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
According to the statement, the former commissioner has been instructed to transfer the responsibilities of the ministry to the Director of Commerce pending further directives.
The governor acknowledged Sagagi’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting his involvement in political activities, religious engagement and support for small and medium enterprises across the state.
Yusuf also extended his best wishes to the ex-commissioner in his future endeavours, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering effective governance and improved public service.
The statement noted that the decision formed part of ongoing measures to reorganise government structures for better efficiency, growth and sustainable development in Kano State.
The latest move comes on the heels of the recent removal of the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, in what the government described as efforts to enhance discipline and productivity within the civil service.
Musa was thereafter directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Cabinet Office, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, who is currently serving in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.
The changes are unfolding amid shifting political dynamics in the state following Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Sources indicated that the development has led to realignments within both political and administrative circles, as key stakeholders adjust to the new party configuration.
