It will be immoral for PDP to endorse Tinubu – Turaki faction

The National Publicity Secretary of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ini Ememobong, has said it would be wrong for the party to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Ememobong, who spoke on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, insisted that such a move would undermine the party’s role as a credible opposition.

He expressed confidence that the ongoing reconciliation within the party would be guided by logic rather than sentiment.

According to him, the faction aligned with Taminu Turaki is committed to ensuring that the reconciliation process strengthens the PDP rather than weakening its opposition stance.

“It is improper, immoral and unjust for a party of the PDP’s stature to endorse the presidency or candidature of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress,” he said.

He added that the position forms a core principle for the faction, stressing that the party must remain independent in its political decisions.

Ememobong also noted that the reconciliation efforts should reinforce unity without compromising the party’s identity as an opposition platform.

He expressed hope that party leaders would prioritise fairness and reason in resolving internal differences ahead of future elections.
