Residents of Jeri community in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State have been thrown into panic following a house-to-house attack by suspected bandits who looted property valued at millions of naira.
The incident was made public by a security analyst, Bakatsine, in a post shared on Friday via his X handle, where he detailed the scale and duration of the attack.
According to him, the armed assailants stormed the community and operated unchallenged for close to two hours, moving from one residence to another.
He stated that the attackers systematically raided homes, dispossessing residents of their belongings without any form of resistance during the operation.
Items reportedly stolen during the invasion included mobile phones, cash and livestock belonging to members of the community.
Bakatsine disclosed that the total value of the stolen items ran into millions of naira, further compounding the losses suffered by the affected residents.
Despite the intensity of the raid, no fatalities or cases of abduction were recorded, a development residents described as a narrow escape.
The incident, however, has heightened fears among locals over the persistent security challenges in the area.
Observers say the attack has also cast doubt on recent efforts aimed at restoring peace in parts of the state.
Bakatsine noted that the latest raid occurred just weeks after authorities reportedly reached a peace agreement with bandits in Kankia Local Government Area, raising questions about the effectiveness of such arrangements.
