Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, is facing widespread criticism over alleged threats directed at opposition figures and social media commentators.
The controversy followed a viral video in which Igboho openly endorsed the second-term bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and warned against campaigning for opposition leaders such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the South-West region.
His remarks sparked backlash, particularly from TikToker Wale Aburumoku, also known as “Funny Thinker,” who challenged Igboho’s authority to restrict political activities, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy guarantees freedom of political participation.
Tensions escalated after a voice note allegedly linked to Igboho surfaced online, in which he reportedly issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the TikTokers to be brought before him. Another content creator, Babaalado, expressed fear for his safety, describing the message as a direct threat.
The development has drawn condemnation from legal and political figures. Senior Advocate of Nigeria Victor Okpara warned that no individual has the right to threaten others, while Yunusa Tanko described the situation as dangerous and urged security agencies to intervene.
However, Igboho has denied issuing any threats. Through his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, he dismissed the reports as false, insisting that his political support for Tinubu is a personal right and not an attempt to intimidate anyone.
