The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly attack that claimed several lives.
The curfew, which took effect from midnight on March 29 and will last until April 1, 2026, was announced after the violent incident in Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, said Governor Caleb Mutfwang strongly condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked.
The governor assured residents that security agencies have been fully mobilised to restore order and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
Residents were also urged to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security operatives by providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
The government said the curfew is part of efforts to prevent further breakdown of law and order in the affected area.
