The National Youth Service Corps has extended the service year of 12 corps members in Osun State for various infractions in line with its bye-laws.
The Osun State Coordinator of the scheme, Ekang Ita Kubiangha, disclosed this on Tuesday during the passing-out parade for the 2025 Batch A Stream I corps members in Osogbo.
Kubiangha said 1,808 corps members successfully completed their national service and were issued Certificates of National Service, while 13 others absconded during the service year.
He noted that out of the 1,834 corps members deployed to the state, those who completed the programme comprised 914 males and 894 females.
The coordinator described the completion of the service year as a major milestone, crediting the success of the corps members to commitment and divine grace.
He urged the outgoing corps members to uphold discipline, patriotism, and the core values of the scheme as they transitioned to the next phase of their lives.
Kubiangha warned that indiscipline and negligence could jeopardise future opportunities, stressing that diligence and integrity would open doors for progress.
He also advised the corps members to handle their certificates with care, cautioning against immediate lamination and urging them to verify their details before use.
The coordinator commended the corps members for their contributions to host communities and expressed optimism that the certificates would open greater opportunities for them.
