A political commentator, Sumner Sambo, has alleged that a number of lawmakers who recently joined the All Progressives Congress were lured with promises of automatic tickets for the 2027 elections.
He made this known on Wednesday while speaking on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television, where he addressed ongoing political realignments across the country.
Sambo said some of the affected lawmakers have begun to express dissatisfaction, claiming that the assurances given to them before their defection are no longer being upheld.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu had indicated he would engage party leaders on the matter, but the situation remains uncertain.
He further explained that the ruling party has now directed the lawmakers to liaise with their respective state governors as part of the process of securing party tickets.
The analyst noted that this requirement could pose a challenge, especially for those who are not politically aligned with their governors.
He added that the development has placed some of the defectors in a tight corner, leaving their chances in the party unclear ahead of the next general elections.
