President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
The President’s condolence message was delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who attended the Janazah prayer for the deceased at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Sunday.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the late Hadiza as a woman of exceptional virtues and a strong pillar of support to her husband throughout his years in public service.
He also acknowledged her contributions to education and community development.
Tinubu said, “Dear Professor Jega, it is with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of your beloved wife of over 40 years. Hajiya was an exceptional woman.
“I share in your grief and that of your family and pray that Almighty God grants her Aljannatul Firdaus. I stand with you at this difficult time.”
Hajiya Hadiza Jega’s death was earlier announced by Bayero University, Kano, where Prof. Jega once served as Vice-Chancellor.
In a statement posted on its official social media platform, the institution disclosed that her Janazah prayer was held shortly after Zuhr at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
