Veteran Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa, has ignited public debate after openly admitting that he uses traditional spiritual practices, popularly referred to as juju, to enhance his career and personal success.
The revelation came during his performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of Nollywood veteran, Fatai Odua, on March 30, 2026, where Osupa’s remarks quickly went viral across social media platforms.
In the now-trending video, he was seen instructing his backup singers to use similar spiritual methods to improve memory and stage performance, insisting that such practices are harmless and aimed solely at personal development.
Osupa further disclosed that he had previously been advised to deny involvement in juju, but he rejected the suggestion, asserting that he had never used it for evil purposes.
“I didn’t harm anyone with my juju; I only use it to progress and live comfortably,” he said, defending his openness about the practice.
The musician’s statements have provoked sharp criticism, particularly from Islamic clerics and religious commentators, who argued that attributing success to juju undermines faith and could mislead his followers.
Responding to the backlash, Osupa clarified that he respects both Christianity and Islam and has never disrespected holy scriptures.
He also accused some critics of hypocrisy, noting that while they may practice similar rituals privately, they publicly condemn him for doing the same.
