Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State have expressed readiness to receive Governor Bala Mohammed into the party, stating that he has shown willingness to work with members ahead of his planned defection.
The development follows ongoing consultations between the governor and APC stakeholders, including members of the House of Representatives from the state.
Speaking after a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Dabo Ismail, a federal lawmaker representing Toro constituency, said discussions with the governor were productive and focused on ensuring unity within the party.
He noted that the APC leadership at the national level has encouraged Bauchi stakeholders to embrace the governor’s entry, adding that efforts are being made to ensure a smooth and inclusive process.
According to Ismail, Mohammed has demonstrated readiness to collaborate with party members at all levels, assuring that no member would be sidelined or treated unfairly.
He also called on party members in Bauchi to support the move, describing it as a step toward building a stronger and more competitive political structure.
Also speaking, former governor Isa Yuguda emphasised the importance of unity, stating that electoral victory remains the party’s primary goal.
He urged party members to close ranks and work together to secure success in future elections, describing the governor’s planned defection as a positive development.
The consultations are expected to continue as stakeholders work to finalise arrangements for Mohammed’s potential move to the APC, a shift that could significantly reshape the political landscape in Bauchi State ahead of upcoming elections.
