Pope Leo XIV has responded firmly to criticism from Donald Trump, saying he is not afraid of the US administration and will continue to speak on moral and global issues.
Speaking during a trip, the pope stressed that his role is to preach the message of the Gospel, not to align with political interests.
He maintained that the Church’s duty is to promote peace and act as a moral voice, especially on issues like war and migration.
The response follows repeated attacks from Trump, who has criticised the pope’s stance on global conflicts, US military actions, and immigration policies.
Despite the growing tension between both leaders, Pope Leo reaffirmed his commitment to being a “peacemaker” and speaking out, regardless of political pressure.
