The All Progressives Congress has expressed confidence in its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying it has consolidated its position in key states, particularly in the North-West.
The party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, stated this during a media chat in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said Kano remains firmly in the control of the APC, describing it as a critical swing state the party has secured.
Yilwatda noted that the party has strengthened its structure in the state, adding that many members who previously defected have returned, thereby weakening opposition influence.
He also said efforts were ongoing to engage other political blocs in Kano to further boost the party’s base.
On Kaduna State, the APC chairman said the party had resolved internal grievances that affected its performance in previous elections, especially in Southern Kaduna.
He added that the party’s structure in the state remained intact, dismissing concerns over the defection of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
According to him, Sokoto State is also tilting in favour of the APC, with the party controlling a majority of the political structures.
Yilwatda maintained that the APC has grown stronger since the 2023 elections, attributing this to the influx of defectors and consolidation of its grassroots support.
He expressed optimism that the party would perform strongly in the 2027 polls.
