Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Mohbad, has intensified his push for a DNA test to determine the paternity of his grandson, Liam, expressing frustration over the handling of the case.
Speaking in a recent interview, Aloba criticised the court process, claiming he expected a direct order compelling Omowunmi Aloba to present the child for testing. Instead, he said the court advised him to settle the matter amicably with her.
Earlier, a magistrate court in Ikorodu approved three separate DNA tests to be conducted abroad—two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States—to resolve the dispute. The case was adjourned to allow both parties’ representatives supervise the sample collection.
However, Aloba expressed disappointment that no enforcement order was issued, insisting his goal is simply to establish the truth about the child’s paternity. He also appealed publicly for support, emphasizing the importance of clarity on the matter.
The controversy comes amid the lingering circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death in September 2023. Although an autopsy was conducted after his body was exhumed, medical experts were unable to determine the exact cause of death due to decomposition.
Aloba has maintained that his son will not be reburied until the paternity issue is conclusively resolved through a court-approved DNA test.
