The Kwara State Government has filed a 20-count criminal charge against Bukola Saraki, former Senate President, and Abdulfatah Ahmed, ex-governor of the state, over allegations linked to the 2018 Offa robbery incident.
Also named in the suit are Yusuf Abdulwahab, a former chief of staff to Ahmed, and Alabi Olalekan, an aide. The charges were filed at the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on April 9, 2026.
According to the charge sheet, the defendants are accused of conspiring with individuals already convicted of armed robbery to carry out coordinated attacks on multiple banks in Offa on April 5, 2018.
The banks reportedly affected include branches of Guaranty Trust Bank, First Bank, Ecobank, Union Bank, and Zenith Bank.
The prosecution alleges that the suspects were armed with firearms and explosives during the attacks, which led to significant loss of life and property.
