Former Super Eagles striker, Michael Eneramo, has died after reportedly collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.
According to reports on Friday, the 40-year-old slumped while featuring in a game at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna.
Sources said Eneramo, who came on as a substitute in the second half, suddenly collapsed without any physical contact.
A witness was quoted as saying that efforts to revive him at the scene proved unsuccessful before he was rushed to a hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
Eneramo, who had retired from professional football, enjoyed a career that saw him feature for clubs including Turkish side Besiktas, Tunisia’s Esperance, and Nigeria’s Lobi Stars.
He was also said to be running a football academy prior to his death.
Meanwhile, the official Super Eagles X handle paid tribute to the late striker, posting his photograph alongside a brief message mourning his passing.
