United States President and Vice President were safely evacuated on Saturday night after a gunman opened fire during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington.
The incident, which occurred at the Washington Hilton, caused panic among attendees as security operatives swiftly moved to secure top officials and guests.
Secret Service agents were said to have immediately whisked the vice president away from his seat, while others formed a protective shield around the president and escorted him out of the venue. The First Lady, , was also safely evacuated.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the attack.
In a post on social media, Trump assured the public that all key officials were unharmed, stating that the First Lady, Vice President, and cabinet members were “in perfect condition.”
Speaking later at a press briefing, the president disclosed that the gunman’s shot struck a federal official’s bulletproof vest, preventing injury.
Law enforcement authorities identified the suspect as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from California, adding that he was apprehended at the scene. Investigators believe he acted alone, though his motive remains unclear.
According to officials, the suspect is expected to face charges in court.
