United States President Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of the American electoral system, claiming that elections in the United States are “rigged” and warning that the country could face serious democratic consequences if reforms are not urgently implemented.
In a post shared via his account on Truth Social, Trump described U.S. elections as compromised and a “global embarrassment,” arguing that the system must be fixed to prevent national decline.
He called on Republican lawmakers to support a proposed electoral reform package he referred to as the “Save America Act,” which he described as essential for restoring trust in the voting process.
Among the key proposals outlined, Trump said the bill would introduce stricter voter identification requirements, proof of citizenship for voters, and restrictions on mail-in voting, except in limited cases such as illness, disability, military service, or travel.
Trump also warned that he would not support any lawmaker who votes against the proposal, describing the legislation as one of the most consequential in U.S. history.
The proposal is expected to face significant debate, as election integrity and voting access remain deeply divisive issues in American politics.
