The Women in Leadership Advancement Network (WILAN) has concluded plans to conduct a large-scale medical outreach in Kano State, targeting about 1,500 women and children in underserved communities.
The National Coordinator of the organisation, Dr Fauziya Buhari-Ado, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja during an interview, noting that the initiative forms part of the group’s humanitarian interventions.
Buhari-Ado, who also serves as Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on School Feeding Programme, commended the Kano State Government for its support, describing the collaboration with relevant stakeholders as crucial to the success of the project.
She explained that beneficiaries would be drawn from all the 44 Local Government Areas of the state, with the outreach scheduled to commence on Saturday.
According to her, the programme will provide free medical consultations, medications and diagnostic tests, while cases requiring advanced care will be referred to appropriate health facilities.
She added that the intervention would also include the distribution of food items, immune boosters and other nutrient-rich supplies to beneficiaries between Saturday and Sunday.
The WILAN coordinator said the initiative is designed to support vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, in line with efforts to improve health outcomes and social welfare at the grassroots.
The wife of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Martina Yilwatda, is expected to attend the event as the special guest of honour.
WILAN, a non-governmental organisation established in 2018, focuses on promoting collaboration and empowerment among Nigerian women leaders across political, economic and public sectors.
