Seriake Dickson, senator representing Bayelsa West, has urged Nigerians to ignore what he described as propaganda against the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that the party’s registration process is legitimate and well documented.
In a statement shared on X, the former Bayelsa governor said efforts to register the party began as far back as 2017, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initially approved the process before it was later halted.
He explained that when party registration resumed last year, the group revisited and updated its earlier application, adding that political projects of such scale often attract rumours, misinformation, and other forms of distraction.
Dickson called on Nigerians to remain focused and not be swayed by negative narratives about the party or its leadership.
He also said the NDC is gaining momentum due to the coming together of experienced political actors with strong grassroots support, describing it as a significant alignment of influential figures across the country.
According to him, the party aims to build a stable, ideology-driven political platform capable of enduring beyond its founders, with a focus on inclusivity, mentorship, and national development.
He added that the NDC is designed to serve all Nigerians, including young people, women, and vulnerable groups, while preparing citizens for leadership and public service.
