Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso same — Sowore declares after court session

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Friday declared that President Bola Tinubu is not different from former President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Sowore made the remarks while addressing journalists after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar had earlier dismissed the no-case submission filed by Sowore in the cyberbullying case instituted against him by the Department of State Services.

The DSS accused the activist of cyberbullying President Tinubu after he allegedly described the President as a “criminal” on his social media handle.

Following the court’s ruling, Sowore was ordered to open his defence in the matter.

Reacting after the session, the former presidential candidate insisted that Nigeria’s mainstream political figures represented the same political ideology.

“Jonathan is not different from Tinubu, Tinubu is not different from Atiku, Atiku is not different from Obi or Kwankwaso. We are the ones who are different, and that is the idea they are afraid of,” he said.

Sowore maintained that he would continue to challenge the political establishment regardless of who occupied power.

“If any one of them was in power, I would still be here because they cannot tolerate progressive ideas that would liberate the country,” he added.

The activist also accused members of the political class of distracting Nigerians from what he described as the “real solution” to the country’s problems through shifting alliances and political coalitions.

According to him, ongoing court cases against him were part of attempts to weaken his political movement and limit his activities ahead of future elections.

Sowore further alleged that there had been deliberate efforts to tie him down with multiple legal battles, claiming that fresh charges were filed against him after he recovered his passport.
