A fresh crisis has reportedly erupted within the Progressive Governors Forum following the emergence of rival factions within the body.
The development comes amid reports that the chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, was allegedly removed from office on Thursday.
Despite the claims, Uzodimma has maintained that he remains the authentic chairman of the forum.
However, another bloc within the forum is said to be rallying behind the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The emerging division is believed to have created fresh cracks within the ranks of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to reports monitored on ARISE News, the exact cause of the disagreement had yet to be officially disclosed, although party sources linked the tensions to internal leadership struggles and political positioning ahead of the next electoral cycle.
As of the time of filing this report, none of the factions had issued a detailed statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the reported split.
The latest development comes barely hours after the PGF dismissed reports alleging that Uzodimma had been removed as chairman, insisting that no such decision was taken by the forum.
