The Ondo State Government has assured residents of the Ijoka area in Akure that the ongoing road construction project in the axis will be completed despite delays and challenges encountered during execution.
Speaking during an inspection of the project site, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, appealed to residents and motorists to remain patient as construction work continues.
According to the commissioner, the government understands the difficulties road users have been facing due to the prolonged construction process, adding that efforts are being intensified to ensure speedy completion of the project.
“We understand the plight of residents and motorists in this area. The project has taken longer than expected, but government is working seriously to complete it and reduce the burden on the people,” he said.
Olawoye reiterated the commitment of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to completing all inherited projects across the state while also initiating new developmental projects.
He explained that the Ijoka Road project was inherited by the current administration and noted that although several challenges had slowed progress, the government remains determined to deliver the road.
“Ijoka Road is one of the inherited projects we met on ground. We have completed almost all inherited projects across the state, and despite the challenges facing this one, it will also be completed,” he stated.
The commissioner added that government is putting measures in place to ease movement and minimise hardship for residents and commuters affected by the construction work.
The inspection forms part of the state government’s efforts to monitor ongoing infrastructure projects and ensure quality delivery across Ondo State.
