Labour Party in Abia State has stated that the administration of Governor Alex Otti is not worried about the political ambition of Benjamin Kalu ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued by the party’s publicity secretary, Iroegbu Emenike, the LP said Governor Otti remains focused on governance, infrastructure renewal, economic reforms, and improving the welfare of residents rather than political speculation.
The party also criticised the All Progressives Congress in the state for allegedly dragging the governor into discussions surrounding Kalu’s future political plans.
According to the statement, the LP described Otti’s performance in office as the “standard for governance” in Abia, adding that the opposition appeared unsettled by the governor’s growing popularity and achievements.
The party further urged the APC in the state to concentrate on rebuilding its structure and presenting alternative policies instead of engaging in what it described as unnecessary political narratives.
The reaction followed comments linked to a statement reportedly issued by Uche Aguoru concerning the political future of the deputy speaker.
