The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned aspirants contesting under the party’s platform against disrupting upcoming primaries, saying anyone involved in violence or anti-party activities risks suspension.
Yilwatda gave the warning while addressing aspirants who recently underwent screening by various APC committees ahead of the nationwide primaries.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman said the party would not tolerate actions capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process.
He cautioned aspirants and their supporters against instigating violence, sponsoring unrest, or engaging in acts that could damage the party’s image.
Yilwatda stressed that the APC remains committed to conducting transparent, peaceful, credible and democratic primaries that would strengthen internal democracy and boost public confidence.
He noted that while every aspirant has the right to contest, personal ambition must not override the collective interest of the party.
“In every democratic contest, only one person will emerge victorious. What matters is the spirit with which the process is approached,” he said.
The APC chairman urged aspirants to demonstrate maturity, patriotism and sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of the primaries peacefully.
He also called on party members and stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and avoid actions capable of causing division within the party.
Yilwatda further commended Tinubu for strengthening democratic institutions and implementing reforms aimed at economic growth, infrastructure development, agriculture, energy and support for small businesses
