A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has entered into a political alliance with the Allied Peoples’ Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The two opposition parties formalised the partnership on Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration ahead of the polls.
At the event, Seyi Bamidele signed the agreement on behalf of the PDP faction, while Oladele Oyadeji signed for the APM.
Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, also appended their signatures to the agreement on behalf of both parties.
The development coincided with Makinde’s declaration of interest in the 2027 presidential race, a move political observers say places the governor among the early contenders ahead of the next general election.
Details of the agreement between the two parties were not immediately disclosed, but sources at the meeting said the alliance was part of broader efforts to build a formidable opposition platform ahead of 2027.
The event attracted party loyalists and political stakeholders from both camps, amid growing realignments within the opposition space.
