Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has formally submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Malami’s Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka.
According to the statement, the nomination documents were submitted at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja in compliance with the party’s guidelines ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement noted that Malami’s governorship ambition had continued to generate political reactions across Kebbi State as consultations intensify ahead of the polls.
It added that the former minister had begun consultations across the 21 local government areas of the state in a bid to mobilise support for his aspiration.
Malami had earlier announced his intention to contest the governorship election on the platform of the ADC, promising to focus on security, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and education if elected.
He said his decision to join the race was driven by the need to tackle insecurity, economic hardship and governance challenges confronting the state.
The former minister also described the ADC as a political platform committed to accountability, inclusion and development.
