Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has dismissed allegations that he imposed aspirants during the recent senatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The governor described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that he has never interfered in the democratic choice of party members.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor’s office said the allegations were “lies from the pit of hell” and urged the public to disregard them.
Bere stated that Mutfwang had built a reputation for fairness and democratic conduct throughout his political career and would not be involved in imposing candidates against the wishes of the people.
“The Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has never imposed any political aspirant or candidate against the wishes of the people and will not start now,” the statement read.
The governor’s aide added that Mutfwang had consistently advocated peaceful, free and credible electoral processes across Plateau State.
According to the statement, the governor remains committed to promoting unity, peace and stability in the state, particularly during the ongoing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The government also called on party faithful and residents to ignore what it described as fabricated reports capable of creating unnecessary tension within the political space.
