Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has responded to remarks made by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the African Democratic Congress presidential primary.
Amaechi, during a recent interview, had criticised Atiku over his stance on presidential zoning and expressed confidence in securing the ADC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
The former minister also reportedly dismissed the possibility of stepping down for Atiku amid speculations that some party stakeholders were pushing for a consensus arrangement within the ADC.
Reacting during an interview on Channels Television, Momodu urged Amaechi to exercise restraint, warning that attacks on fellow aspirants could deepen divisions within the opposition party.
“Mr Amaechi, in the name of Almighty God, should please cool his temper,” Momodu said while addressing the former governor’s comments.
The media entrepreneur described Atiku as a formidable contender in the presidential race, insisting that defeating the former vice president would not be an easy task for any aspirant.
“A potential presidential candidate and possible president of Nigeria must watch his temper and temperament and does not need to attack Atiku,” he added.
The exchange comes amid growing political manoeuvring within the ADC as leading aspirants intensify consultations ahead of the party’s presidential primary for the 2027 general election.
